The Seattle Orcas (SEO) clashed with the Texas Super Kings (TSK) in the 10th match of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2023 tournament at Church Street Park on Friday night. After winning the toss, the Seattle Orcas elected to bowl first, and it turned out to be a brilliant decision.
The Super Kings had a rocky start to their innings, with their top-order struggling to find their footing. Devon Conway departed for a golden duck, while Faf du Plessis got out after scoring 13 runs. However, it was Cody Chetty who played a handy knock of 22 runs off 18 balls, including 2 fours and 1 six. But wickets fell at regular intervals, and the Super Kings found it difficult to build partnerships.
Dwayne Bravo played a crucial knock, scoring 39 runs off 39 balls, with 4 fours and 1 six. Additionally, Daniel Sams contributed with a quick 26 runs off 19 balls, including 1 four and 2 sixes. Thanks to their efforts, the Super Kings managed to post a total of 127 runs in their allotted 20 overs. The Orcas reached the target comfortably in the 16th over, finishing at 128/2.
The Super Kings bowlers tried their best to defend the target, but they couldn’t break the Orcas’ partnership, with Mitchell Santner and Mohammad Mohsin being the only bowlers to pick up a wicket each.
Parnell’s exceptional bowling performance earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ award.
With this victory, the Orcas have moved to the top of the table. The Super Kings, on the other hand, have slipped to the second spot with two wins and four games.
