New Zealand cricket fans have reason to cheer as an action-packed summer of international cricket awaits, featuring the much-anticipated return of South Africa and a thrilling trans-Tasman series with Australia. These matches will be a crucial part of the new ICC World Test Championship cycle.

South Africa and New Zealand had a captivating two-Test series in 2022, with the Proteas making a comeback to level the proceedings 1-1. In the first Test, New Zealand secured an impressive innings victory, largely thanks to the exceptional performance by Matt Henry. However, South Africa struck back with a commanding 198-run victory in the second Test.

On February 4, 2024, the hosts will once again welcome the Proteas side at the picturesque Bay Oval in Tauranga for the first Test. The action will then move to Seddon Park in Hamilton for the second Test. It is worth noting that New Zealand has yet to win a Test series against South Africa, both at home and away, adding an extra layer of anticipation to these encounters.

Following the South African series, New Zealand will turn their attention to their Trans-Tasman rivals, Australia, in a highly-anticipated World Test Championship clash. Wellington and Christchurch have been selected as the venues for these crucial encounters, with the matches scheduled to take place from February 29, 2024.

The forthcoming series against Australia holds great significance for New Zealand as they seek to make their mark in the World Test Championship. After a remarkable run in the inaugural cycle, which saw them beat India in the final, the Black Caps will be eager to return to winning ways after a poor second cycle.

The battle between New Zealand and Australia promises to be a spectacle, with both teams known for their competitive cricket and fierce rivalry. Fans can expect enthralling displays of skill, strategy, and sportsmanship as these two cricketing powerhouses clash on the New Zealand field for the first time since 2016.
