The fifth match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2023 Super Sixes round at the Harare Sports Club witnessed an enthralling clash between the Netherlands and Oman. The Netherlands emerged victorious in the rain-affected contest by huge 74 runs.

Asked to bat first, the Dutch side put up an impressive batting display and posted a formidable total of 362 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the rain reduced 48 overs match. Vikramjit Singh led the charge for the Netherlands with a brilliant century, scoring 110 runs off 109 deliveries Vikramjit hammered eleven fours and two sixes during his century knock and was well supported by Wesley Barresi, who played a blistering knock of 97 runs in just 65 balls. Bas de Leede and Saqib Zulfiqar also made valuable contributions, scoring 39 runs and 33 runs, respectively. Meanwhile, Bilal Khan was the standout performer with the ball for Oman, claiming three wickets.

In response, Oman struggled to chase the mammoth target of 363 runs. Although Ayaan Khan displayed outstanding batting skills, smashing a brilliant century and adding 105 runs off 92 deliveries for his team, Oman eventually fell short and managed to reach 246 runs for the loss of loss of six wickets in 44 overs. In the end, the Netherlands were declared the winners via the DLS method as rain once again came into effect, and the remaining four overs were called off.

Among the Netherlands bowlers, Aryan Dutt delivered an exceptional performance, taking three wickets for just 31 runs in his quota of ten overs. Ryan Klein also made a significant impact and bagged two scalps for 34 runs in the nine overs he bowled.

Vikramjit was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ for his outstanding century, which played a pivotal role in setting up the Dutch side’s victory.
