Former England woman cricketer Sarah Taylor and her partner Diana Main welcomed a new addition to their family as Main gave birth to a baby boy. The lesbian couple joyfully announced the arrival of their son on Thursday (July 6).

Sarah took to her Instagram to inform about the news and also revealed the name of the newborn. The former England cricketer addressed her son as ‘Laurie’ while informing about the arrival of her first child in her Instagram post.

Sharing the pictures of the baby and her partner Main, Sarah wrote: “What a week it’s been with this little boy! Welcome to the world Laurie 🙂 @dianamain_ you two are my world. So proud of you x.”

The news garnered warm wishes and congratulations from the cricketing community. Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues and English bowler Kate Cross were among some of the notable names to extend wishes to Sarah and her partner on the merry occasion.

“Congratulations my fav,” commented Jemimah on Sarah’s post.

“Congratulations you two,” wrote Kate.

Speaking of Sarah’s professional life, she retired from international cricket in September 2019, citing anxiety issues. Throughout her illustrious career, Sarah represented England in 126 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), accumulating an impressive 4,056 runs with seven centuries and 20 fifties. Additionally, she played 90 T20 Internationals (T20Is) and scored 2,177 runs. While primarily known as a wicketkeeper, Taylor also showcased her batting prowess in Test cricket, featuring in ten matches and amassing 330 runs.

The 33-year-old cricketer’s contributions to the sport extended beyond her impressive statistics. Sarah was an integral part of England’s victorious World Cup campaigns in 2009 and 2017, playing a crucial role in their success. Her exceptional skills and commitment to the game earned her widespread admiration and respect from cricket enthusiasts worldwide.

In 2021, Sarah Taylor broke new ground by becoming the first woman coach in men’s professional franchise cricket. She was appointed as the assistant coach of Team Abu Dhabi for the T10 league, marking a significant milestone in her career.
