The India tour of the West Indies commenced on Wednesday (July 12), with the first Test of the multi-format series getting underway at Windsor Park in Dominica. India started the visit in a great fashion and bowled out the hosts for 150 runs on Day 1 of the first Test itself. The match also saw India’s young star Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan make their debuts for the country in the red-ball format.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, West Indies got off to a disastrous start and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Although Alick Athanaze played a resilient knock of 47 runs and steadied the innings of the Caribbean side, he too failed to convert the start into a big score and West Indies were eventually bowled out for 150 runs in 64.3 overs.

Among India bowlers, the spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja played a major role in dismantling the batting line-up of the hosts. Ashwin claimed a brilliant fifer for the Indian side, while Jadeja chipped in with three crucial wickets.

Apart from the dominating performance by India at Windsor Park in Dominica on Day 1, what garnered the attention of many fans on social media was a light-hearted moment in the middle of the field where India’s star opener Shubman Gill was seen shaking his legs during the West Indies innings. The video of the same has now gone viral on the internet.

It all happened after the completion of the 63rd over when Rahkeem Cornwall and Jomel Warrican were changing sides, and Gill started shaking his legs to entertain the fans. The dance from Gill was caught on camera and has been winning hearts ever since.

Coming back to the match, India are currently in a great position, batting on 80 for no loss until Stumps on Day 1. Debutant Jaiswal is unbeaten on 40, whereas India skipper Rohit Sharma is not out on 30.
