The second and final Test of the red-ball series between West Indies and India is set to begin at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad from Thursday, July 20.
India are currently 1-0 up in the series and will look to whitewash the out of form Windies side.
For the past 21 years, West Indies have been losing the Test series against India. Given the challenging circumstances they are up against once again, the hosts would consider it a significant achievement if they can level the series this time around.
Pitch report
Throughout history, the pitches at the Queen’s Park Oval have been reminiscent of typical Caribbean Test wickets, providing favourable conditions for the fast bowlers. However, runs have been relatively easier to come by in the first two innings of a Test match. Statistics suggest that the team batting second has been able to amass the highest scores on average at this venue. Moreover, in the latter stages of matches, teams chasing have generally pursued modest targets.
