India‘s young wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan had a brilliant outing with the bat on Day 4 of the second Test against West Indies. Kishan scored a sensational 52 runs off 34 balls, supported by four boundaries and two sixes. The 25-year-old batter’s exploit helped India gain the upper hand as the visitors declared their second innings on 181/2 with a lead of 364.

The quickfire knock by Kishan also marked his maiden half-century in the Test format and attracted huge praise from cricket enthusiasts. However, what made the innings even more special was the bat Kishan used to hammer his first fifty in the longest format.

It is worth mentioning that Kishan played with Rishab Pant‘s bat against the Caribbean side at Queen’s Park Oval in the second Test and reached the fifty run-mark in a way similar to that of the injured cricketer. The images and videos of Kishan using Pant’s bat and completing his half-century with Pant-like one-handed six soon went viral on the internet.

Following his knock, Kishan even acknowledged Pant for his support and thanked the Uttarakhand cricketer for his tips at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The clip of the same was shared by the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) on their official Twitter handle.

“I was at NCA before coming here. I was practising there and Rishabh was also there for his rehab. He just got a few points for me. He asked me to you know, the bat position and everything because he, had seen me playing with him,” said Kishan.

“We have played together so many matches. We have been together since U-19. So he knows how I play, what my mindset is. So you just help me a little bit with my bat position and everything, so otherwise I think I also wanted someone to tell me a few things about my batting and it was a great time for him to come and chat with me and really thankful for that,” he added.

Speaking of Pant, the 25-year-old cricketer is currently on his recovery path and is training at the NCA in Bengaluru.
