Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young Indian cricketer, received a rapturous welcome in the dressing room after scoring a magnificent century on his Test debut against West Indies in Dominica. The left-handed batter’s stellar performance on Day 2 of the first Test left his teammates and support staff in awe.
Opening the innings alongside captain Rohit Sharma, Jaiswal made the most of his maiden Test opportunity. Displaying exceptional cricketing skills, he went on to register his first century in Test cricket. The moment Jaiswal reached the landmark, he jubilantly took off his helmet, leapt in the air, and let out a roar of delight.
In a gesture of gratitude, Jaiswal acknowledged the Indian dressing room by bowing down. His remarkable innings gave him several reasons to celebrate, as he became the first Indian opener to score a Test century on debut away from home. Additionally, he joined the esteemed company of 17 other Indian cricketers who have achieved the feat of a debut Test hundred.
As Jaiswal walked back into the change room at the end of the day’s play, his teammates and support staff warmly received him. Ravindra Jadeja was the first to congratulate him, embracing Jaiswal as he crossed the boundary rope. Head coach Rahul Dravid also extended his congratulations to the young talent.
Upon entering the dressing room, Jaiswal was greeted with thunderous applause and standing ovations from his fellow teammates and support staff, including Ajinkya Rahane, Shardul Thakur, Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill and Rohit. The collective appreciation reflected the camaraderie and admiration the team held for Jaiswal’s remarkable achievement.
Jaiswal finished the second day with his unbeaten knock of 143 as India reached 312/2 in response to West Indies’ 150 and the tourists are leading by 162 runs.
