The Women’s Ashes 2023 has turned out to be a thrilling series so far, with Australia winning the only Test of the multi-format tour and then England bouncing back in the T20I leg to stay alive in the contest. Both the teams will now take on each other in a three-match ODI series which will commence on Wednesday (July 12) at Bristol. A 15-member squad for the same was announced by the England Cricket Board (ECB) on Monday (July 10).

The team announced by ECB features some prominent stars from the opening Test of the Women’s Ashes 2023 series, whereas a few members of the T20I squad failed to make their place in the ODI set-up. For instance, England’s star performer in the Trent Bridge Test, Tammy Beaumont, was re-called into the national side after not being included in the T20I team, while Maia Bouchier, Freya Davies and Lauren Winfield-Hill – who were all part of the T20I fixtures were not selected for the 50-over games.

It is worth mentioning that Beaumont smashed a historic double hundred for England in the only Test against Australia. However, the hosts suffered an 89-run defeat in the match.

Apart from Beaumont, Lauren Filer was another notable inclusion into the team as she earned her maiden call-up in the ODI set-up.

England head coach Jon Lewis expressed his excitement over the return of Beaumont and Filer and welcomed the duo to the squad. Lewis further also went on to acknowledge the two players for their talent and exceptional abilities.

“We’re pleased to welcome Tammy (Beaumont) and Lauren (Filer) back into the group. Tammy showed her quality during the Test match with her double-hundred while Lauren offers us real pace in our bowling alongside Issy (Wong),” said Lewis.
