As India and Pakistan are gearing up for an intense battle at the Asia Cup 2023 on September 2, the excitement among fans is at an all-time high. The buzz surrounding the showdown has even caught the attention of many veteran non-Asian cricketers, leaving them stunned by the hype for the marquee clash. Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody also found himself trapped in the huge buzz as he declared the India-Pakistan rivalry as one of the best in the world.

Although Moody has witnessed such high-voltage drama formerly on the field during his stint with the Australian team against England in the Ashes series, he rated the India-Pakistan rivalry much bigger than the iconic contests between Australia and England.

Tom Moody rates the India-Pakistan rivalry above Ashes

As the echoes of a thrilling Ashes 2023 series still reverberate, Moody took the time to weigh in on the intensity of the India-Pakistan rivalry. In a recent interaction with Star Sports, he expressed his thoughts on how this rivalry stands above even the Ashes. He even acknowledged the immense talent that the Pakistan lineup boasts and emphasised the importance of experience in shaping a formidable team.

“I think this match surpasses the Ashes. It’s always got a lovely story to it, and both are outstanding cricketing nations. And when you look at that Pakistan squad, it does boast a lot of talent,” said Moody.

“But one thing that stands out for me is that it also boasts experience. So now they have the combination of experience and talent, they are a real threat,” he added.
