The 23rd match of The Hundred Women 2023 took place between Trent Rockets and Manchester Originals where the Rockets showcased their prowess and registered a comprehensive 9-wicket triumph.

Batting first, Manchester managed to post a total of 107/5 in their allotted 100 balls. Laura Wolvaardt led the batting effort with 23 runs off 31 balls, including 3 fours. Deandra Dottin contributed significantly with a brisk 30 runs off 26 balls, featuring 3 fours and a six. Amanda-Jade Wellington chipped in with a valuable 22 runs off 19 balls.

The Rockets bowlers displayed disciplined performances, keeping the pressure on the opposition. Alexa Stonehouse, Katherine Brunt, Kirstie Gordon, and Bryony Smith all picked up crucial wickets, limiting the scoring opportunities for Manchester Originals.

Lizelle Lee, Bryony Smith take Rockets to comfortable win

Chasing a target of 108 runs, Trent Rockets displayed exceptional batting prowess, reaching the target with 36 balls to spare. Lizelle Lee provided a strong start with 44 runs off 27 balls, which included 6 fours and 2 sixes. Smith, who bagged a wicket, also impressed with her batting and continued her fine form with 28 runs off 19 balls. Then, Natalie Sciver‘s quickfire 33 off 18 balls ensured a comfortable victory for Trent Rockets.

Manchester Originals bowlers struggled to contain the aggressive batting display of Trent Rockets. Sophie Ecclestone managed to claim one wicket, but it wasn’t enough to halt the Rockets’ charge. Smith’s all-round performance turned the tide in favor of the Rockets and expectedly so, she was named Player of the Match.
