The cricketing world is buzzing with excitement and anticipation, with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 just around the corner. As fans gear up for the much-awaited event, veteran cricketers and experts have started sharing their insights and predictions about teams and players.

Three-time World Cup winner and the leading wicket-taker in the history of the tournament, Glenn McGrath, has also unveiled his picks for the top four teams that he believes will shine in the marquee event. The former Australian pacer has selected Australia, Pakistan, England, and the hosts India as the four best teams he thinks will make a strong impact in the upcoming World Cup.

“You wouldn’t be surprised that I’m putting Australia in that four. Obviously, India is playing in their own conditions. England is playing some great cricket, and Pakistan is also playing fine. So, they are the best four,” stated McGrath in an interview with the Times of India.

It is worth mentioning that Australia have a rich World Cup history with five coveted trophies to their name and are expected to be a force to be reckoned with in the 2023 edition of the event. However, India has the added advantage of playing on familiar turf as the host nation and will pose a great challenge to Australia and the other teams. Given the home conditions, the Men in Blue will strive to claim their third World Cup title after their previous successes in 1983 and 2011.

On the other hand, defending champions England with their new aggressive brand of cricket, will also be determined to retain the trophy and repeat their success from 2019.

With a knack for producing surprises on the biggest stage, the 1992 World Cup champions Pakistan also have the potential to upset any team and make a deep run in the tournament.
