England’s veteran fast bowler Stuart Broad recently called his time on an illustrious international career that spanned over 17 years. Broad decided to bid farewell to the competitive arena of cricket in the fifth and final Ashes 2023 Test at the Oval cricket ground. The right-arm pacer in all these years achieved many milestones and even went on to etch his name in the history books as the fifth-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket history.

Apart from this, Broad also shares the record of most wickets as a pair in Test cricket with his partner James Anderson. The duo’s combined tally of Test wickets reads 1039, and they have been instrumental in many memorable victories for England.

Stuart Broad names his favourite bowler

Although Broad is himself one of the best bowlers that the game of cricket has ever seen in the Test format, he also has a favourite whom he adores and admires.

In his recent interview with Sky Sports, Broad openly admitted that Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi is one of his favourite bowlers and that he thoroughly enjoys watching the young talent in action. He expressed his admiration for Shaheen’s bowling prowess and marvelled at the young Pakistani pacer’s presence and energy when running in to deliver the ball.

Broad further talked about how he has been captivated by the natural skill of Shaheen and even highlighted the latter’s association with the Notts Outlaws, a team close to his heart.

“Shaheen Shah Afridi is one of my favourite bowlers to watch in the world. He has got such a great presence about him when he runs in, and I love bowlers run in with energy and vibrancy to their run-up,” said Broad.

“He has got such a natural skill – the way that ball swings back into the right-handers is such a pleasure to watch. And he represented the Notts Outlaws this summer, which is close to my heart. He’s one of the bowlers I admire hugely, and I want to see him do well,” he added.

It is worth mentioning that Shaheen is currently representing Welsh Fire in the ongoing The Hundred and has been turning heads with his exceptional bowling performances. Meanwhile, Broad is now venturing into the broadcasting field, and fans can expect to see him as a commentator for Sky Sports on a more regular basis.
