As the cricketing world gears up for one of the most eagerly anticipated events, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially released the updated schedule for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. With the tournament set to showcase the best teams from around the globe competing for ultimate glory, fans and cricket enthusiasts are eager to mark their calendars and catch the action-packed matches.
A total of nine fixtures have been changed
The initial version of the schedule, unveiled on June 27, indicated that the India–Pakistan showdown would occur on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Nevertheless, this date has been altered to October 14 due to concerns raised by local law enforcement. The original fixture date would have coincided with the first day of Navratri, a prominent nine-day annual festival celebrated in Gujarat.
Originally planned for October 14, the England game against Afghanistan has been postponed to October 15. Similarly, the New Zealand versus Bangladesh matchup that was initially slated for October 14 has been moved forward to October 13. Notably, this game will now be played under day-night conditions, departing from its originally intended daytime format.
The Pakistan versus Sri Lanka match, initially earmarked for October 12, has been shifted to October 10, in alignment with expectations. Additionally, the much-anticipated showdown between Australia and South Africa has been moved up by a day, now set to take place on October 12 instead of the initially designated October 13.
The bulk of the adjustments have been made to matches in the latter part of the tournament. The games originally scheduled for November 12 – Australia vs Bangladesh in Pune and England vs Pakistan in Kolkata – have been brought forward to November 11. Conversely, India’s encounter with the Netherlands, initially set for November 11, has been transferred to November 12, effectively swapping the two games between these days.

The other alteration pertains to England’s match against Bangladesh in Dharamshala on October 10, which has been changed to a daytime match from its previous designation as a day-night contest.
