In Match 21 of The Hundred Women 2023 at the Kennington Oval, the London Spirit emerged victorious against the Oval Invincibles by a margin of 21 runs. With the victory, London Spirit opened their account in the competition, which has already reached the half-way stage.

After being asked to bat, London Spirit put up a challenging total of 118/9 in their allotted 100 balls. Danielle Gibson‘s quick-fire 22 off 14 balls provided the early momentum, while Lauren Filer‘s late blitz contributed 21 runs off 13 balls, including a vital six.

Marizanne Kapp led the bowling charge for the Oval Invincibles with a disciplined spell, claiming 2 wickets for just 13 runs. Ryana Macdonald-Gay, Sophia Smale, and Mady Villiers also chipped in with 2 wickets each, restricting the Spirit’s innings.

The Invincibles fell short by 21 runs

Chasing 119 for victory, the Oval Invincibles faced a tough challenge from the Spirit’s bowling attack. Suzie Bates top-scored with 24 runs off 35 balls, but a collective effort from the Spirit bowlers led by Amelia Kerr‘s 3 wickets for 16 runs limited the Invincibles’ progress. Charlie Dean and Tara Norris took crucial wickets, both securing 2 dismissals each. The Invincibles managed to score 97 runs before being bowled out.

In the end, the London Spirit emerged victorious, clinching the match by 21 runs. Norris was named the Player of the Match for her impactful performance.
