A heart-stopping moment unfolded in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023 when Sri Lankan cricketer Isuru Udana narrowly escaped a close encounter with a snake that slithered onto the cricket field. The spine-chilling incident took place at the R. Premadasa stadium during the 15th match of LPL 2023 between B-Love Kandy (BLK) and Jaffna Kings (JK).
The reptile was first spotted by B-Love Kandy player Udana, who was positioned at the boundary. Udana was visibly startled by the snake’s sudden appearance, and his expression was a mix of shock and relief as he managed to swiftly evade any potential threat from the unexpected visitor. However, the unexpected interruption temporarily halted the game and shocked spectators and players alike.

Snake aligns with the wires of cameras:
Adding to the intrigue, the same snake later made its way toward a camera’s wires, further emphasizing its persistence in finding an escape route. The camerapersons also were taken aback and hastily retreated, concerned about a potential confrontation with the reptile. The videos of the same went viral on the internet.

It is worth mentioning that this is the second time a game was halted due to a snake entering the outfield in LPL 2023. Something similar happened earlier during a match between Galle Titans (GT) and Dambulla Aura (DA) in Colombo a few weeks back.
Mohammad Haris and Angelo Mathews help BLK edge past JK:
Coming back to the clash between B-Love Kandy and Jaffna Kings, the match was later resumed after a short delay, with Kandy registering a thrilling eight-wicket victory. Mohammad Haris was the standout performer for his side. Harris scored brilliant 81 runs off 51 for B-Love Kandy. Meanwhile, Angelo Mathews shined among bowlers in the second innings, claiming three wickets for ten runs.
With the win, BLK moved to the second position of the LPL 2023 points table and strengthened their chances of reaching the playoffs. On the other hand, the Jaffna-based team slipped to third position.
