The thrilling action of the ongoing Lanka Premier League (LPL) has reached its climactic phase as the league stage comes to a close. In a riveting encounter that marked the 20th match of the competition, Galle Titans clashed with Colombo Strikers on Tuesday, leaving cricket enthusiasts at the edge of their seats.
In a stunning display of cricket prowess, the Titans emerged victorious with a dominant 8-wicket triumph over Colombo. The Titans’ bowling unit stole the show, effectively dismantling Colombo for a mere 74 runs in just 15.4 overs. Tabraiz Shamsi‘s exceptional performance was the highlight, as he wreaked havoc with a remarkable 4-wicket haul, conceding only 20 runs in his spell.
However, it was the early breakthroughs by pacer Lahiru Kumara that set the tone for Galle’s impressive bowling display. Kumara, with his explosive pace and precision, proved to be a game-changer, removing both of Colombo’s openers in quick succession.
Kumara’s brilliance was evident in the 2nd over of Colombo’s innings when he dismissed Pathum Nissanka, giving Galle Titans an early advantage. Not stopping there, Kumara delivered a masterclass by securing the prized wicket of Babar Azam in the 4th over.

The defining moment arrived on the final delivery of the 4th over when Kumara skillfully executed an in-swinger. Pitching the ball outside off and exploiting the conditions expertly, he enticed Babar into an ill-fated cut shot. The ball swung back sharply, taking a inner edge of Babar’s bat and crashing into the stumps, leaving the star batter stunned.
