During the third and final ODI against New Zealand, Bangladesh’s wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim attempted to use his football skills to evade being bowled out by the Blackcaps captain and pace ace Lockie Ferguson. However, despite his acrobatic effort, Rahim couldn’t escape the fiery delivery that crashed into the stumps.

The incident occurred in the 16th over of the first innings when Bangladesh was looking to build a solid total against a formidable New Zealand bowling attack. Ferguson, known for his express pace and bounce, delivered a delivery that came in sharply. In a bid to protect his wicket, Rahim displayed some impressive soccer skills as he tried to flick the ball away with his boot. Cricket enthusiasts in the stadium and viewers around the world were treated to an unusual yet captivating moment of cricketing drama.

Despite Rahim’s best efforts to channel his inner footballer, fate had different plans. The delivery from Ferguson proved too good as the former Bangladesh skipper played the ball onto his stumps. Ferguson celebrated the wicket in his characteristic fashion, acknowledging Rahim’s unusual yet valiant defense.

While Rahim’s inventive approach to batting was entertaining, it ultimately added to the drama of the match, highlighting the unpredictable and exciting nature of cricket. The incident will likely be remembered as one of the quirkiest moments in the sport, showcasing the passion and determination of players like Rahim, who leave no stone unturned in their quest for success on the cricket field.
