After a thrilling T20 series that concluded with a 2-2 tie, the focus now shifts to ODI leg, where England will once again face New Zealand. The four-match one-day international series is slated to kick off on Friday, September 8, serving as crucial groundwork for both sides as they gear up for the ODI World Cup 2023 in India.

The hosts receives a substantial boost with the return of Ben Stokes, who reversed his decision to retire from ODIs just prior to the quadrennial event. However, the absence of Jofra Archer, who is still on the road to recovery, will be felt during the series. Conversely, the Blackcaps are elated to welcome back Trent Boult into the squad. Boult had previously opted out of New Zealand’s central contract last year, making his return a noteworthy development. Nevertheless, New Zealand will be without Kane Williamson in the series due to a knee injury.

The series is set to commence with the first match in Cardiff, followed by the second game in Southampton. The last two matches are scheduled to be held in London. This ODI series promises captivating and competitive cricket, as both teams fine-tune their strategies and form in preparation for the upcoming global showpiece event in India.
