The official trailer launch event took place in Mumbai, with legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and former Sri Lankan all-rounder Sanath Jayasuriya doing the honors. Muralitharan unearths a startling revelation about a former Indian batting icon
During the trailer launch event, Muralitharan fielded candid questions, including inquiries about his experiences bowling to various batters. He noted that batters like Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag had a good understanding of his deliveries, while Rahul Dravid found it challenging to contend with his spin. The Sri Lankan stalwart also acknowledged that some of his teammates had their share of difficulties reading his deliveries.
“He (Sachin Tendulkar) read me very well. Not many people can do (that). (Brian) Lara had success but he never hit me also. I know a few people, like Rahul Dravid, he is one of the greatest players but he never read me. Sachin and (Virender Sehwag) and (Gautam) Gambhir would read. Even in my team some people read and some did not,” Muralitharan was quoted as saying by ANI.
Muralitharan applauds Sachin Tendulkar’s remarkable qualities
The 51-year-old showered praise on Tendulkar, emphasizing that the achievements of the legendary Indian batter are unparalleled, and he does not anticipate witnessing another player of his caliber in his lifetime.
“What he (Sachin) has done in cricket, nobody can do. It is a fact. It is impossible for someone to get into First-Class cricket at 15 years, getting a Test hundred at 16-17 years (of age). Another Sachin Tendulkar won’t be born in my life (time),” the Kandy-born cricketer concluded.
Muralitharan’s unique bond with team India
Muralitharan’s illustrious cricketing journey saw him represent Sri Lanka in 133 Test matches, 350 ODIs, and 12 T20Is over a span of two decades. Notably, he achieved significant milestones against India, including taking Pragyan Ojha‘s wicket to reach the 800-wicket mark in Test cricket and surpassing Wasim Akram‘s record of 502 wickets in ODIs by dismissing Gautam Gambhir.
