India women reach the final of Asian Games 2023

In a semi-final showdown at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field, India Women clashed with Bangladesh Women in the Asian Games T20I 2023 tournament. Bangladesh Women won the toss and chose to bat, but their innings quickly unraveled as they were bundled out for a mere 51 runs in 17.5 overs.

The Bangladesh Women’s batting order struggled to make an impact, with only a few players managing to reach double-digit scores. Nigar Sultana top-scored with 12 runs, while Ritu Moni and Nahida Akter contributed 8 and 9 runs, respectively. The Indian bowlers put up a clinical performance, led by Pooja Vastrakar, who registered her career best figures with 4 wickets for just 17 runs. Titas Sadhu, Amanjot Kaur, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Devika Vaidya also chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Chasing a modest target of 52 runs for victory, India Women reached the finish line comfortably, losing only two wickets in 8.2 overs. Shafali Verma (17) and Jemimah Rodrigues (20) played crucial roles in steering their team to victory. India Women’s solid performance was underscored by their efficient bowling and effective batting.
