Shaheen Afridi shuts down ‘rift rumours’ with Babar Azam
According to a report from Pakistani media outlet Bol News, Babar and Shaheen got engaged in a verbal exchange following their team’s elimination from the Asia Cup 2023, which came after a defeat against Sri Lanka. After the loss, Babar expressed his concerned about the performance of senior players during the Super 4 stage of the tournament. However, Shaheen intervened, suggesting that Babar should avoid making sweeping generalizations and refrain from criticizing those who had performed well. In response, Babar asserted that he was well aware of the individual performances within the team.

The report went on to mention that Pakistan captain Babar attended a press conference after the defeat and subsequently maintained a quiet demeanour while returning to the hotel, refraining from engaging with others.
