Batting first, New Zealand faced a tough challenge against the Bangladeshi bowlers. While they struggled for consistency, they managed to post a total of 254 in their allotted 50 overs. The early wickets of Finn Allen and Will Young put New Zealand under pressure, but they managed to stabilize the innings.

Henry Nicholls contributed well 49 runs off 61 balls, including six boundaries. However, Tom Blundell played a stunning knock. His crucial innings of 68 runs off 66 balls, featuring six fours and a six, made a vital contribution to New Zealand’s total.

Ish Sodhi played a crucial late-innings cameo, smashing 35 runs off 39 balls, including three sixes. However, the Bangladeshi bowlers, led by Khaled Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan, managed to pick up wickets at regular intervals to restrict New Zealand to 254.

Chasing a target of 255, Bangladesh faced a daunting task against a potent New Zealand bowling attack. Unfortunately, their innings got off to a shaky start, with Litton Das and Soumya Sarkar departing early without scoring.

Ish Sodhi wreaks havoc with a brilliant 6-fer

Tamim Iqbal provided some hope with his innings of 44 runs off 58 balls, featuring seven boundaries. Mahmudullah anchored the innings, scoring 49 runs off 76 balls, including four fours and a six. However, the Bangladeshi batters struggled to build partnerships, and New Zealand’s bowlers maintained a consistent line and length to keep the pressure on.

Sodhi was the star with the ball for New Zealand, as he picked up six crucial wickets for just 39 runs in his 10-over spell. Kyle Jamieson supported him with two wickets, while Lockie Ferguson and Cole McConchie also made vital contributions. In the end, New Zealand emerged victorious, defeating Bangladesh by 86 runs.
