In a one-sided contest at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, secured their eighth Asia Cup title in a commanding fashion. Facing Sri Lanka in the summit clash, India clinched victory with ten wickets to spare, capping off a remarkable campaign.

India’s clinical chase and Sri Lanka’s struggles

In the final match, Sri Lanka’s captain, Dasun Shanaka, won the toss and elected to bat first. However, Sri Lanka’s batting lineup faltered, managing to score only 50 runs before being bowled out. Mohammed Siraj was the chief architect of destruction as he finished with the remarable figures of 6/21.  India’s response was swift and aggressive, with a new opening pair of Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill. Their attacking approach paid dividends as they chased down the target in a mere 6.1 overs, securing India’s eighth Asia Cup title in style. Kishan remained unbeaten at 23, while Gill contributed 27* to seal the emphatic victory.
