India’s star batter Virat Kohli was recently declared the most searched Asian personality on Google in 2023. Kohli has not only clinched this coveted title but has also managed to edge past international sensations of pop culture like BTS stars V and Jungkook.

As of now, Kohli boasts a staggering 259 million followers on Instagram, making him the most followed Asian personality on the platform. But his digital dominance doesn’t end there. He has now ascended to the throne of Google’s search rankings, becoming the most searched Asian person this year, which clearly suggests that his popularity extends far beyond the boundaries of the cricket field.

Virat Kohli surpasses K-Pop sensations V and Jungkook

What makes this achievement even more remarkable is the fact that Kohli has surpassed none other than the global K-pop sensations V and Jungkook from BTS. The Korean pop sensation BTS has an army of dedicated fans worldwide, and its members are often at the forefront of internet trends.

It is worth mentioning that V and Jungkook held the top spots in Google’s search rankings until June of this year. However, the latest Google Trends data has unveiled that Kohli overtook them to claim the throne.

On the work front, Kohli recently won the Asia Cup 2023 with Team India and is now gearing up for the upcoming ODI World Cup. The 34-year-old’s journey in 2023 has so far been incredibly marked with many milestones. He recently notched up his 47th ODI century against Pakistan, inching closer to the legendary Sachin Tendulkar‘s record. Additionally, Kohli even achieved the milestone of becoming the fastest batter to reach 13,000 ODI runs, solidifying his status as one of the greatest cricketing legends.
