The cricketing world witnessed a touching and heartwarming moment in the fourth match of Asia Cup 2023, where Bangladesh’s rising star Najmul Hossain Shanto slammed a brilliant century against Afghanistan and dedicated the innings to his newborn son in a special celebration.

Shanto emerged as a beacon of brilliance in the contest. The left-handed batter displayed extraordinary composure and skill as he crafted a remarkable century that set the stage for a commanding performance by the Bangladeshi team.

Shanto began his celebration with his customary flying kiss to his bat. However, what followed was a gesture that melted the hearts of cricket fans worldwide. He swirled his bat in the air, mimicking the gentle twirl of a cradle as a tribute to his newborn child.

In the post-innings interview, Shanto talked about his celebration and said: “This hundred I dedicate it to my son.”

It is worth mentioning that this wasn’t the first time Shanto had shone in the Asia Cup 2023. He had previously been the top-scorer for his team in the opening match against Sri Lanka, narrowly missing out on a century by scoring 89 runs off 122 balls.

Bangladesh registers a convincing win over Afghanistan

As far as the result of the Bangladesh and Afghanistan clash is concerned, the Shakib al Hasan-led side secured a resounding victory against the Afghan team, winning the match by 89 runs. Mehidy Hasan Miraz also contributed with a brilliant ton in Bangladesh’s victory and even won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his incredible 112 runs. Meanwhile, Taskin Ahmed bagged four wickets among bowlers.
