Rinku Singh has swiftly risen to prominence as a finisher in T20 cricket. His breakthrough came when he delivered a phenomenal performance, scoring 30 runs in the final over of an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 innings earlier this year in the game against Gujarat Titans (GT). The Mavericks squared off against the Kashi Rudras in their opening clash on Thursday (August 31), delivering an exhilarating contest. Having won the toss, the Mavericks made the strategic choice to bat first, a decision that would ultimately prove to be a masterstroke. They went on to accumulate an imposing 181 runs, losing just four wickets in the process. In response, the Kashi Rudras mounted a valiant effort, matching the Mavericks’ score and concluding their innings at 181 runs, albeit with the loss of seven wickets after the stipulated 20 overs.

Rinku Singh’s explosive brilliance
The game advanced to a thrilling super over to determine the ultimate winner. In this high-pressure super over, the Rudras set a target of 16 runs while sacrificing one wicket. It was a pivotal moment, and for the Mavericks, Rinku and Divyansh Joshi took centre stage as the chosen batter.
As the first delivery from Shiva Singh came hurtling towards Rinku, it resulted in a tense dot ball. In the next delivery, Shiva strategically placed the ball just outside Rinku’s hitting zone. However, what followed was a display of sheer brilliance from Rinku, as he responded with an explosive six, sending the ball soaring over long-off. It was a powerful stroke that showcased the 25-year-old’s exceptional batting talent.

Rinku continued to dazzle, connecting with another delivery, this time a low full toss from Shiva, which he dispatched for another towering six, this time over deep mid-wicket.
