In the final match of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) 2023, Barbados Royals Women faced off against Guyana Amazon Warriors Women at the Brian Lara Stadium on Sunday (September 10). The summit clash delivered a riveting spectacle as both teams showcased their cricketing prowess. Ultimately, the Royals emerged victorious, winning by a margin of 8 runs.

Barbados Royals Women Innings: 169/7 (20 overs)

The Barbados Women put up a commendable batting display, posting a total of 169/7 in their allotted 20 overs. The standout performance came from skipper Hayley Matthews, who played a magnificent innings of 82 runs off 59 balls, including 10 fours and 2 sixes. Rashada Williams (36 runs off 23) and Gaby Lewis (21 runs off 18) also contributed significantly to the team’s total.

Among the bowlers for Guyana, Shabnim Ismail took 4 wickets for 30 runs in her quota of 4 overs.

Guyana Amazon Warriors Women Innings: 161/8 (20 overs)

In response, the Guyana Women displayed commendable batting efforts, but they fell short of the target, managing to score 161/8 in their 20 overs. Shemaine Campbelle was the top scorer with a blazing 47 runs off 35 deliveries, including 4 fours and 2 sixes. Suzie Bates (36 runs off 36) and Sophie Devine (22 runs off 20) also contributed to the chase.
