Beyond the Indian contingent, there are also noteworthy talents of Indian descent representing different nations in the ODI World Cup 2023. On that note, here are seven such Indian-origin players who are showcasing their skills and making their presence felt on the global stage in this tournament.

1) Rachin Ravindra (New Zealand)

Born in Wellington to parents of Indian New Zealander origin, Rachin Ravindra‘s father was a club-level cricketer in Bengaluru before relocating to New Zealand in 1997. It’s also worth noting that Rachin’s name is a fusion of two legendary Indian cricketers – Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. Rachin has set the ODI World Cup 2023 on fire with his impressive batting performances.

2) Keshav Maharaj (South Africa)

South African spinner Keshav Maharaj was born in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, to parents Athmanand Maharaj and Kanchan Mala. Maharaj’s Indian roots run deep, with his great-grandfather originating from Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, and migrating to Durban as an indentured labourer in 1874. Keshav recently guided South Africa to a thrilling victory over Pakistan in an intense match of the ODI World Cup 2023.

3) Ish Sodhi (New Zealand)

A star all-rounder for New Zealand, Ish Sodhi is of Indian Punjabi descent. Born in Ludhiana, India, to a Sikh family, Sodhi’s grandparents hail from Lahore in pre-partition Pakistan. At the age of four, he moved to Papatoetoe, New Zealand, with his family. His contributions with both bat and ball have made him a valuable asset to the Kiwi team.

4) Vikramjit Singh (Netherlands)

Hailing from Cheema Khurd, Punjab, India, Vikramjit Singh was born into a Sikh family. His grandfather, Khushi Cheema, fled to the Netherlands following the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and established a successful transport company in Amstelveen.

5) Teja Nidamanuru (Netherlands)

Teja Nidamanuru was born in Vijayawada, India, but represents the Netherlands cricket team. He has been a key player for the Dutch team in the ongoing World Cup, showcasing his cricketing talent and representing his heritage on the global stage. 6) Aryan Dutt (Netherlands)
