In a high-scoring encounter at the North Sydney Oval, the West Indies Women’s cricket team emerged victorious against the Australia Women’s team to level the three-match T20I series.

Australia’s Innings:

Australia, after winning the toss and electing to bat, posted a competitive total of 212/6 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was marked by standout performances from Ellyse Perry, who scored a brilliant 70 off 46 deliveries, and the explosive Phoebe Litchfield, who contributed 52 runs off just 19 balls. Georgia Wareham provided the late impetus with her 32 runs off 13 balls.

Skipper Hayley Matthews was the pick of the West Indies bowlers, securing three crucial wickets for 36 runs.

West Indies Women’s Chase:

In response to the challenging target, the West Indies team delivered an extraordinary batting display. Opener Hayley Matthews played a scintillating knock smashing an astonishing 132 off just 64 balls, featuring 20 fours and 5 sixes. Former captain Stafanie Taylor also played a vital role, contributing 59 runs off 41 deliveries. Their partnership proved to be the cornerstone of the highest successful run chase in Women’s T20Is.

The West Indies Women achieved the target of 213 with just one ball to spare, finishing at 213/3 in 19.5 overs. This remarkable victory was a testament to their remarkable batting prowess.

Player of the Match:

Unsurprisingly, the Player of the Match award went to Hayley Matthews for her remarkable century, which not only guided her team to victory but also showcased her outstanding skill and ability.

With this victory, the West Indies Women leveled the series, making it 1-1 after Australia Women won the first T20I. The upcoming third T20I promises to be a thrilling decider as both teams aim to claim the series victory.
