The ODI World Cup 2023 is being exclusively hosted by India, marking the first time in the tournament’s history that it is solely held within the nation’s borders. Previous editions, in 1987, 1996 and 2011, saw India co-hosting the event with neighboring countries. It was in the 2011 World Cup that India, under MS Dhoni, clinched the trophy, defeating Sri Lanka in a thrilling final at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium.

Prohibited items inside stadiums:
Given the monumental significance of this cricketing event, state association boards responsible for hosting matches at these ten stadiums have gone the extra mile to ensure the safety and security of all involved. They have issued comprehensive guidelines specifying items that are strictly prohibited within the stadium premises. These items include “coins, pens, bottles, cameras, intoxicants, tobacco, alcohol, pencils, whistles, helmets, food, selfie sticks, drone cameras, banners, clothes with religious or political influence, audio recorders, bags, backpacks, cans, flags, inflammable goods, laptops, lighters, matchboxes, musical instruments, posters, banners, power banks, sprays, balloons, blocks, tobacco, gutkha, helmets, wooden sticks, pens, pencils, radios, sporting balls, and more.”
Fan-friendly initiative by BCCI
Recognizing the practical issue faced by fans who are not allowed to carry their water bottles into the stadiums and must instead purchase beverages from vendors at inflated prices, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has undertaken a fan-friendly initiative. BCCI’s Honorary Secretary, Jay Shah, announced via social media that the organization will provide complimentary mineral drinking water and packaged drinks to spectators across India attending matches throughout the global showpiece event. This thoughtful gesture aims to enhance the overall matchday experience and keep fans hydrated while enjoying the thrilling cricketing action.
🏏 Exciting times ahead as we anticipate the first ball of @ICC @cricketworldcup 2023 ! 🌟
