The cricketing world was set abuzz as India marked their sixth consecutive victory in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 by crushing down the defending champions England by a massive margin of 100 runs. The victory added another feather to the host’s chariot of unbeaten run in the cricketing carnival.

After posting a total of 229 runs, the dominating Indian bowling attack bundled out the English batting for a mere score of 129, handing them their fourth consecutive defeat in the tournament.

Kuldeep Yadav’s phenomenal delivery to dismiss Jos Buttler

A notable incident during the high-octane encounter was Kuldeep Yadav‘s dream delivery to clean up Jos Buttler. On the very first ball of the 16th over in the second innings, Kuldeep bowled a leg-break delivery on a length, pitching outside off and turning in a long way to dismantle the stumps of the English skipper. This breathtaking display of skill left fans and experts in awe of Kuldeep’s exceptional bowling masterclass. The left-arm chinaman bowler delivered a phenomenal spell, claiming figures of 2/24 and sealing the victory for his side.

Paul Collingwood’s verdict on ‘ball of the tournament’

Following the high-voltage encounter, former English cricketer Paul Collingwood showered praise on the Indian bowlers for their thumping performance and the way they turned the tide in India’s favour. Collingwood also reserved special commendation for Kuldeep Yadav, expressing that his dismissal of Buttler was probably the ‘ball of the tournament.’

“And I just thought the ball is once they got England’s first wicket, they just didn’t give them a sniff. After that, I thought about the accuracy, the skill level, that we get movement out of the pitch and then you thought maybe the spinners would come on and maybe they’ll just stick it on, but no cold. Kuldeep comes up with probably the ball of the tournament to Jos Buttler,” Collingwood said while speaking to Star Sports.
