India have displayed a stellar performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, securing victory in all three matches they have played so far. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, they are gearing up to face Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday, October 19.
As India prepares for their fourth game in the prestigious ICC event, former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta comprehensively analyzed the pivotal role played by all-rounder Hardik Pandya within the Indian team. Deep also highlighted the significance of Hardik’s contributions as a bowler and underscored the valuable leadership qualities and approach that he brings to the side.
Deep Dasgupta’s analysis of Hardik Pandya’s rhythm
Deep Dasgupta emphasized unanimous agreement on Hardik’s vital role as an all-rounder in the team. He noted that while Hardik’s batting prowess has been consistently evident, his bowling performance, although showing a brief loss of rhythm in the first match’s initial overs, has notably improved in subsequent games, including the crucial encounter against Pakistan.
“There are no two opinions about it. Hardik – the all-rounder, the batting is there in any case and along with bowling as you said. I felt he was not getting his rhythm slightly in the first match in the first one or two overs and then he has come back in the second match and bowled well against Pakistan as well,” Deep said on a Star Sports show.

Deep’s remarks on Hardik’s leadership approach
Deep further underlined that Hardik possesses a remarkable strategic mindset that aligns with the qualities of a leader. The cricketer-turned-commentator emphasized the significance of a bowler taking control of his overs and field placements, highlighting how Hardik adeptly manages the game aspect.
“His mind works like a leader. It is very important that a bowler captains his overs and Hardik does that. When he is bowling, he would set the field accordingly. It is a great help for the captain if a bowler captains his overs. He should know where he is going to bowl his six balls and what field he needs,” the former Indian wicketkeeper added.
