Shubman Gill, India’s opening batter, has landed in Ahmedabad, marking his recovery from dengue fever. However, the cricketing world is on tenterhooks regarding his availability for the upcoming marquee match against Pakistan, slated for this Saturday.

A video capturing Shubman’s arrival at Ahmedabad Airport made waves on social media, especially on X (formerly Twitter).

In the video, Shubman can be seen navigating through the airport, while a group of reporters approached him with queries about his potential appearance in the crucial Pakistan clash. Despite the curiosity, the star Indian batter opted to remain tight-lipped on the matter.

Shubman hits the nets

Even as doubts persist over his participation in the Pakistan encounter, Shubman has wasted no time in resuming his batting practice. Upon arriving in Ahmedabad, the 25-year-old has taken to the nets, all geared up for the match against Pakistan scheduled for October 14.

In the absence of Shubman, who had been sidelined due to dengue fever, Ishan Kishan stepped in as Rohit Sharma‘s opening partner for both of India’s previous matches against Australia and Afghanistan. Kishan made a substantial contribution to India’s triumph over Afghanistan, amassing a crucial 47 runs.

India’s decent start in the World Cup

India have enjoyed a decent start in the ongoing multi-nation event. The Rohit Sharma-led side played two games so far and registered victory in both matches. India first played the mighty Australians on October 8 in Chennai where they won the low-scoring contest by 6 wickets. Virat Kohli (85) and KL Rahul (97 no) both smashed handsome knocks during India’s successful chase of 200 runs.

Similarly, in their second clash, India got the better off Afghanistan, crushing them by 8 wickets. Captain Rohit broke numerous records during his scintillating century. The Indian skipper smashed 131 off 84 balls while Kohli remained unbeaten on 55.
