Virat Kohli, the celebrated Indian cricket superstar, is renowned for his exceptional batting skills, leadership prowess, and fielding finesse. However, in a surprising turn of events during the ODI World Cup 2023 clash against Bangladesh, Kohli demonstrated his versatility by donning the bowler’s cap.

An unexpected twist

During the intense match, which unfolded at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, India, fans witnessed a remarkable and unexpected turn of events. The incident occurred when India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya sustained a slight injury and had to leave the field.

Hardik Pandya’s injury

In the 9th over of the game, as Bangladesh opted to bat first, Pandya made a valiant effort to prevent a shot from Litton Das. However, in his pursuit to halt the ball, Pandya twisted his ankle and ended up slipping awkwardly. Clearly in pain, the physiotherapist rushed onto the field to attend to the injured player.

Captain’s move

In light of Pandya’s injury and his evident discomfort, India’s captain Rohit Sharma decided to remove him from the bowling attack. This decision set the stage for a rare sight in cricket as Rohit summoned Virat Kohli to deliver the remaining delivery in that over. Kohli, the Delhi-born cricketer, took the ball and bowled three deliveries, conceding two runs.
