The 18th match of the ODI World Cup 2023 between Pakistan and Australia at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru left cricket fans around the world on the edge of their seats. The start of the clash was nothing short of exhilarating, with Australia’s openers going berserk and putting on a power-hitting display that sent fans into a frenzy. However, amidst the cricketing brilliance and fervour, a controversial incident unfolded that caught the attention of fans both on and off the field.

While the electrifying match was underway, a security personnel at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was allegedly seen asking a supporter of the Green Team not to chant ‘Pakistan Zindabad’. The video of the same soon went viral on the internet and raised many eyebrows.

In the clip, the security person can be seen arguing with a fan who is confronting him and questioning why he asked him to stop chanting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ in support of his team. The fan appeared visibly frustrated and annoyed as he fumingly uttered why he couldn’t cheer for his team when others were allowed to chant ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’.

Pakistan supporters express disappointment over the incident

The video of the incident was shared by Pakistan’s famous meme sensation and model Momin Saqib and spread like wildfire on social media platforms, with cricket fans and influencers sharing mixed reactions.

Momin took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account to post the incident and expressed his disappointment by stating, “It’s shocking and upsetting to see that people are being stopped from cheering ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ at the game. This totally goes against what the sport is about!”

Asked to bat first by Pakistan, Australia’s innings at the Bengaluru stadium witnessed a dazzling display of skill and partnership between David Warner (163) and Mitchell Marsh (121). The duo showcased a brilliant skillset and dominated Pakistan’s bowlers throughout. Their stellar performance allowed Australia to accumulate a formidable total of 367/9 within their allocated 50 overs.

Nevertheless, as the innings progressed, Pakistan’s bowlers managed to stage a comeback. Shaheen Afridi delivered a brilliant five-wicket haul, while Haris Rauf claimed three crucial wickets.
