The Indian cricket team’s recent resurgence in the T20I series against Australia after the heartbreaking defeat in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 has brought forth a wave of excitement and renewed hope among cricket enthusiasts.
The young talent-laden Indian squad exhibited sheer determination right from the start and registered two consecutive wins in the initial matches of the five-game T20I series against the Aussies. While the third game ended in a closely contested defeat, it was marked by stellar performances on both sides.
In the midst of this cricketing extravaganza, a noteworthy insight from India’s seasoned cricketer, Ambati Rayudu, is making headlines as he has named the under-used cricketer in the Indian team.
Ambati Rayudu’s illustrious career
It is worth mentioning that Rayudu stands as one of the stalwart batters in Indian cricket and has represented India in 71 matches across ODIs and T20Is, accumulating a commendable 1736 runs. His impressive IPL record, boasting 4348 runs in 204 appearances and six titles, further solidifies his cricketing prowess. The right-handed batter bid farewell to all forms of cricket on May 30, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of remarkable contributions.

Rayudu picks the most under-used cricketer
During an interaction on the Beer Biceps YouTube channel, Rayudu recently shared his perspective on the under-utilization of a talented cricketer in the current Indian team and named his former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammate, Ruturaj Gaikwad as the player not being fully harnessed according to his potential.
“For me, (someone) who is being underused by Indian cricket right now is Ruturaj. He has tremendous talent, and I think he is the one guy who should be used more,” expressed Rayudu.
Interestingly, just days after Rayudu’s discussion aired on YouTube, Gaikwad astounded the cricketing world with a remarkable performance by smashing a phenomenal fifty and a century against Australia in the second and third T20I matches. The milestone not only showcased his skill and prowess but also marked a historic moment as he became the first Indian batter to score a century against the Aussies in the shortest format of the game.
