How does ‘time out’ work in cricket

It occurs when an incoming batter is not ready to play within three minutes of time following the previous batter’s dismissal or retirement. The same is also mentioned in the MCC Laws

“After the fall of a wicket or the retirement of a batter, the incoming batter must, unless Time has been called, be ready to receive the ball, or for the other batter to be ready to receive the next ball within 3 minutes of the dismissal or retirement. If this requirement is not met, the incoming batter will be out, Timed out.”

The English all-rounder had a big smile on his face and also let the Netherlands captain, Scott Edward, know that he would need some time. The hilarious incident sent fits of laughter among all cricket enthusiasts.
