The Tamil Nadu-born cricketer started by revealing that it was during his captaincy tenure at the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise in 2018 that Rinku and Nayar crossed paths, setting the stage for a transformative relationship. He further highlighted how Nayar had seen immense potential in Rinku from the start and confidently predicted that the young cricketer was destined for something truly special.

Karthik even reminisced about those times when Rinku was going through a tough phase as he faced an ACL injury, and Nayar provided unwavering support to the Aligarh-born cricketer by convincing KKR’s CEO, Venky Mysore, to keep Rinku with the team. He then revealed how Rinku stayed at Nayar’s house for months after the IPL, undergoing rehabilitation and honing his batting skills.
“Even during the time he had an ACL injury, nayar convinced @VenkyMysore sir who gracefully accepted Rinku to be part of the team and made him travel and stay with KKR. He stayed in nayars house post IPL for many months for Rehab and started working on his batting and had a stellar domestic season and then eventually did what Nayar and kkr always thought he could do , a MATCH WINNING FINISHER,” he added.
Karthik concluded by reflecting on the photo capturing Rinku and Abishek’s embrace and noted the surreal feeling that must be accompanying Nayar as a coach after watching his student excel on the world stage.
‘And today when I see this photo , i just feel like NAYAR as a coach has grown in stature and can share the happiness he feels for Rinku along with the rest of the world .
