While individual performances with the bat and ball often steal the spotlight, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has turned its attention to another critical aspect of the game – fielding.

Recognizing the impact of fielding on the tournament’s outcome, the ICC has revealed the top 10 best fielders of the ODI World Cup 2023 and has rated them considering every aspect, from runs saved to catches taken.

Marnus Labuschagne tops the charts

Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne‘s exceptional fielding prowess throughout the event has earned him the top spot in the ICC’s fielding impact ratings. Labuschagne’s impressive statistics include wight catches, one run-out, and three assisted run-outs, accumulating a remarkable rating of 82.66. Moreover, he also saved 15 runs with his agile and strategic on-field brilliance, which undeniably played a defining role in Australia’s success in the tournament.

David Warner grabs the second spot

Following closely behind Labuschagne is his Australian teammate, David Warner, securing the second position with an equal number of catches (8) and a rating of 82.55. The dynamic duo’s fielding partnership undoubtedly bolstered Australia’s campaign, providing crucial breakthroughs and maintaining a high standard on the field.

South Africa’s presence in the top three

South Africa’s David Miller claims the third spot on the list, showcasing his brilliance with 7 catches and a rating of 79.48.

Ravindra Jadeja makes his way into the top five with

India’s star all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, secured the fourth position with 7 catches and an impressive rating of 72.72. Known for his athleticism and agility on the field, Jadeja’s contributions were crucial in India’s performance, reinforcing the importance of well-rounded players in the modern game.

Sybrand Engelbrecht, Virat Kohli and Aiden Markram add to the diverse mix

Sybrand Engelbrecht from the Netherlands showcased his fielding prowess with 6 catches and a rating of 58.72, earning him the fifth spot. India’s Virat Kohli follows closely in the sxith position with 6 catches and a rating of 56.79.

Joining Subrand and Virat is South Africa’s Aiden Markram, who contributed significantly with 4 catches and a rating of 50.85. South Africa’s fielding excellence played a pivotal role in their journey through the tournament.

The New Zealand touch

The last three positions in the top 10 are occupied by Mitchell Santner (8th), Glenn Maxwell (9th), and Glenn Phillips (10th). Their contributions in the field, reflected in their respective ratings of 46.25, 45.07, and 42.76, underline the diverse talent pool that the ODI World Cup 2023 showcased.
