The Pakistan cricket fans are buzzing with criticism and disappointment as their team’s campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023 almost faces an imminent exit. The Green Team’s below-par performance has sparked heated debates among fans, experts, and former cricketers, with the captain, Babar Azam, bearing the brunt of the criticism.

In a surprising turn of events, Babar’s former teammate Imad Wasim has now added fuel to the controversy by suggesting that the Lahore-born cricketer should gracefully step down from the captaincy.

It is worth mentioning that the dynamics between Babar and Imad have been a subject of controversy for quite some time now. The all-rounder, who hasn’t represented Pakistan in ODIs since 2020 and last played a international match during a T20I series  against New Zealand in April earlier this year, expressed his views on Babar’s leadership during a recent interaction with ARY News.

Imad Wasim’s candid advice to Babar Azam

During his recent interaction with ARY News, Imad didn’t hold back in sharing his thoughts on Babar’s captaincy. In the presence of Mohammad Amir and Abdul Razzaq, Imad suggested to Babar that when a team fails to deliver, the leader should gracefully step down. Imad’s suggestion was met with agreement from co-panelists Amir and Razzaq, further highlighting the gravity of the situation.

“This is not just for Babar Azam but for all leaders, if your team fails to deliver, you should gracefully step down,” said Imad.
