The much-anticipated T20I series between cricket powerhouses India and Australia is set to kick off on November 23 at the Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Both teams are gearing up for an intense battle, marking their first bilateral encounter since the memorable World Cup 2023 final, where Australia emerged victorious.
Squad changes and captaincy dynamics
As the team’s transition from the World Cup to bilateral competition, noteworthy changes have been made to the squads. With only three World Cup squad members included, India’s T20I squad introduces new faces. Suryakumar Yadav, the sole playing XI member from the ODI World Cup final, will lead the Indian side. Shreyas Iyer is set to join them for the final two matches, adding depth to the top order.
Australia, on the other hand, have opted for squad rotation, resting key players like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood. All-rounders Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Green, along with David Warner, initially named in the squad, have also been withdrawn.
