Australia‘s astounding journey in the ODI World Cup 2023 further extended with a remarkable three-wicket triumph in the second semi-final against South Africa, securing their coveted spot in the final showdown against undefeated India at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday( October 19).

Despite losing their first two league-stage matches, the Pat Cummins-led side displayed remarkable resilience and mind-boggling performances, leaving their opponents in awe throughout the tournament. The team’s ability to bounce back from adversity showcased their determination and skill, making their journey to the final a testament to their unwavering spirit and cricketing prowess.

As Australia prepares for their 8th ODI World Cup final, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has made noteworthy remarks about the five-time ODI World Cup Champions.

‘They Activate beast mode’: Aakash Chopra

Chopra acknowledged his initial scepticism about the Australian cricket team, expressing surprise at their transformation in the knockout stage. After their first two losses, he admitted to underestimating them, believing they didn’t resemble the typical Australian side. However, the cricketer-turned-commentator conceded that the team has activated beast mode.

“Australia – they activate beast mode as soon as they reach the knockouts. I will put my hand up and say that when they lost their first two matches, I said this team won’t go anywhere, because they were not looking like Australia. I have eaten my words and they taste bitter,” Chopra said in his Youtube video.

Special praise for Mitchell Starc

Chopra commended the Australian bowlers for restricting the formidable South African batting lineup, particularly highlighting Mitchell Starc‘s exceptional performance in elevating his game and taking three crucial wickets. While acknowledging the contributions of Cummins, the Agra-born cricketer also noted the impact of Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell, emphasizing their effective role, even if they didn’t claim wickets.

“Mitchell Starc raised the level of his game. He picked up three wickets. Pat Cummins took wickets. Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell went empty-handed, but they still stopped the opposition team,” the 46-year-old added.
