In an exclusive interview given to Kolkata TV, Ganguly revealed that Rohit initially hesitated to take on the captaincy of the Test squad due to the immense pressure of leading across all formats. The 51-year-old acknowledged intervening and persuading the Mumbai-born cricketer, ultimately making him ready to take the helm.
However, Ganguly also expressed satisfaction with Rohit’s acceptance and highlighted the positive outcomes, urging observers to note the tangible results under his leadership.
“Rohit doesn’t wanted the captaincy because there was a lot of pressure on playing all formats. It had come on a stage and told him that if he doesn’t say yes, I will announce his name. I am happy that he listened to me and is now leading from the front. You guys can check the results,” Ganguly said.
