Pakistan‘s trembling campaign in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 have seemingly came to a good note as the Babar Azam-led side registered their third victory by defeating Bangladesh in the ongoing tournament at the renowned Eden Gardens in Kolkata on October 31.
However, Pakistan’s road to the playoff stage still hangs in big turmoil, as the four consecutive losses have brought a serious dent to their semi-finals dream.
Considering the current scenario, the Green team needs to win all of their remaining fixtures as well as rely on the outcomes of other teams’ clashes to align favorably. It is worth noting their remaining two fixtures are against New Zealand and England.
Amid the ongoing situation, former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram has come up with a broader view on Pakistan’s approach and how they should play in their upcoming encounters.
Wasim Akram’s crucial advice to Pakistan
Akram mentioned that Pakistan needs to keep its focus on its upcoming clashes rather than eyeing the points that are beyond their control.
“They (Pakistan) can only do one thing. They just have to win their games and then hope and pray that other teams provide favorable results. Because those things aren’t in your control. If New Zealand loses by a big margin, again, that’s not in Pakistan’s control. They should focus on their cricket. The next two games are against big teams,” Akram said on A Sports.

The left-arm pacer further mentioned that the 1992 ODI World Cup champions need to be more cautious against England, as they are almost out of the semifinals race of CWC 2023 and have nothing to lose.
“I’m scared of England because they are out. They are going to play fearless cricket. They have nothing to lose. They will be aggressive and will intend to spoil someone’s party,” the 57-year-old added.
