The hosts of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, India, are gearing up for a monumental showdown in the final against the five-time champions, Australia, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
India have won the ODI World Cup title twice, in 1983 and 2011, the latter marking the last time the tournament was held in their country.
In contrast, Australia stands as the most successful ODI team, boasting victories in the 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2015 competitions, with a unique distinction of clinching three successive ODI titles.
The Ultimate Showdown
The much-anticipated clash between India and Australia in the upcoming final is expected to see Jasprit Bumrah leading India’s pace bowling attack, complemented by man-in-form Mohammed Shami and young gun Mohammed Siraj. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja will be the two spinners in the line-up.
Among batters, captain Rohit Sharma, his opening partner Shubman Gill, No. 3 Virat Kohli, No. 4 Shreyas Iyer and wicket-keeper KL Rahul, all are in stunning form.
On the other hand, Australia’s experienced batters, namely David Warner, Steve Smith, Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell have notched significant centuries in this World Cup. Though, the Australian seamers have struggled for wickets, leg-spinner Adam Zampa has been the go-to-man for Pat Cummins & Co.

In a recent disclosure, ex-South African cricketer Imran Tahir has confidently predicted the eventual winner of the World Cup 2023. The renowned leg-spinner, popular for his celebratory sprint after picking up a wicket, discussed his insights in a conversation with Star Sports India, initiating discussions among fans and experts.
“If you are asking me then, INDIA truly… because the brand of cricket they have been playing,” said Tahir.
“They have been absolute in all the departments… So, look it will be a good final but India is very strong at the moment,” added the Proteas superstar.
