Uganda has etched its name in the cricketing annals by securing a spot in the T20 World Cup 2024. The culmination of their journey unfolded in a thrilling encounter against Rwanda in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier 2023.

The decisive match

Facing Rwanda in their final qualifier match on which their fate depended, Uganda displayed dominance both with the ball and the bat. Rwanda’s innings was marred by struggles as they were restricted to a modest total of 65 runs in 18.5 overs. Eric Dusingizimana emerged as the top scorer for Rwanda, but the Ugandan bowlers, led by Alpesh Ramjani and Henry Ssenyondo, showcased exceptional skill, each claiming two wickets.

In response, Uganda chased down the target with remarkable ease, reaching 66/1 in just 8.1 overs. Simon Ssesazi played a pivotal role with a solid knock of 26 runs off 21 balls, ably supported by Ronak Patel (18 runs off 20 balls) and Roger Mukasa (13 runs off 8 balls).
