Team India continued their unbeaten run in the ODI World Cup 2023 after defeating the Netherlands in their last league match on November 12 in Bengaluru. India batters made full use of the conditions after opting to bat first, posting a formidable total of 410/4 in their allotted 50 overs.

Top-order brilliance sets the stage

The top three batsmen, Captain Rohit Sharma (61 off 54), Shubman Gill (51 off 32), and Virat Kohli (51 off 56), laid the foundation with powerful fifties. Shreyas Iyer (128 not out) and KL Rahul (102 off 64) then built on the momentum, slamming exceptional centuries and propelling India to an imposing total.

Bowlers deliver in style

India’s bowlers continued the onslaught, bundling out the Dutch side for 255 in 47.5 overs. Regular bowlers such as Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja impressed with two wickets each. Notably, even part-time bowlers Kohli (1/13) and Rohit (1/7) contributed to the wicket column.

Anushka Sharma’s viral reaction on Virat Kohli’s wicket

The standout moment of the match occurred when Kohli, primarily recognized for his batting prowess, took a wicket after a gap of nine years. In the 25th over, the Delhi-born superstar dismissed Netherlands’ skipper Scott Edwards, triggering exuberant celebrations among his teammates.

A captivating element of the match was Anushka Sharma‘s emotional reaction in the stands. A video capturing her cheering, grinning, and getting visibly emotional quickly went viral on social media. Dressed in a traditional kurta, Anushka shared in her husband’s triumph, making the moment even more special for fans.

Notably, Kohli’s previous ODI wicket was secured in January 2014 against New Zealand in Wellington. Following that achievement, he underwent a notable 12-inning spell without adding to his wicket count.
