Brisbane Heat beat Perth Scorchers to qualify for WBBL 2023 finals

Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers locked horns in the Challenger of Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2023 on Wednesday, where the Heat registered a dominating victory to qualify for the finals. The Jess Jonassen-led side will now meet Adelaide Strikers in the summit clash, scheduled to take place on December 02.

Grace Harris powers Brisbane Heat to a formidable total

Batting first, Brisbane Heat managed to post a massive total of 197/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Grace Harris was the star performer with the bat, smashing a brilliant half-century. She scored 54 off 33 balls, with the help of 10 fours and a six.

Amelia Kerr (31), Mignon du Preez (26), Laura Harris (24) and Charli Knott (32 no) made splendid contributions to the team’s big total. For the Scorchers, Alana King bagged a three wicket haul for 30 runs in her quota of 4 overs.

Georgia Voll stuns Perth Scorchers with splendid bowling

In response to the huge target, the Perth Scorchers could only manage tor reach 130/8 in 20 overs, losing the contest by 67 runs. Experienced campaigner Nat Sciver-Brunt was their highest scorer with 36 off 27 balls.

Georgia Voll was the pick of the bowler for the Brisbane Heat. She bowled exceptionally well and picked up a sensational 4-wicket haul while conceding 19 runs in her quota of 4 overs. Captain Jonassen was also impressive as she took a couple for 25 in 3 overs.
