In a thrilling encounter at the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2023, Sydney Thunder registered a victory against Brisbane Heat at the North Sydney Oval. Brisbane Heat won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Sydney Thunder Women put up a strong total of 204 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 20 overs. Tahlia Wilson and Chamari Athapaththu led the charge with blistering performances, scoring 83 and 58 runs respectively. Heather Knight also made a notable contribution with 38 runs.

For Brisbane Heat, Nicola Hancock and Courtney Sippel picked up two wickets each.

Chasing a formidable target, Brisbane Heat fought valiantly and managed to score 196 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs. Mignon du Preez was the top scorer with 61 runs, followed by Amelia Kerr, who contributed 41 runs. However, their efforts fell short as Sydney Thunder’s bowlers put up a commendable display. Fast bowler Hannah Darlington claimed two wickets.
